Chelsea set to Welcome their Second Arrival – N’Golo Kante is believed to be undergoing medical at Chelsea with his signing to be announced shortly. The Frenchman was linked to Real Madrid and PSG but has opted to move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are believed to have activated the buy-out clause for the midfielder which stood at just £20 million. Chelsea have reported to have paid nearly £30 million for his services and will be entitled to a weekly wage of roughly £150000.
Kante becomes the second signing of Antonio conte’s signature having previously signed Michy Batshuayi from Marseille in a deal of £33 million pounds. The Belgium was a lone striker for Marseille and a rare bright spot in an otherwise dismal campaign. He is expected to partner Diego Costa in the attack. Another name to be expected to join Kante in the entry door is Kalidou Koulibaly.
The defender has been one of the standout players for Napoli apart from Gonzalo Higuain and Marek Hamsik. His departure started looking likely in the wake of his comments earlier in the summer of not having been offered a new deal from Napoli which had prompted an angry response from the president Aurelio De Laurentiis. Napoli are currently holding out for a fee of £50 million though it is unlikely that Blues will pay the rumoured amount.
Senegal Added Defensive Steel to Chelsea
The Senegal international will add much needed defensive steel to Chelsea which looked horribly leaky and is thin on options. With Kurt Zouma still recuperating from his hamstring injury and John Terry not his younger self, only Gary Cahill is the dependable name in the Blues ranks. There have been a couple of departures confirmed from Stamford Bridge.
Radamel Falcao has returned to Monaco after a miserable spell in West London that saw his game time severely limited. He will be looking to relaunch his career in Ligue 1 once again.
Alexandre Pato’s loan spell has also ended with the Blues hierarchy opting not to extend his spell from the original 6 months as planned. He has been linked with a return to his native Brazil as not many clubs are interested in his signature at the moment.
John Obi Mikel will also be likely to move on after Kante’s arrival. Having hit out at former manager Jose Mourinho for the lack of game time, he is unlikely to find anything different under Antonio COnte and hence will be shipped out. A move to Serie A and China has been rumoured although nothing has been concrete.
Liverpool set to miss out on Zielinski and Chilwell
Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Ben Chilwell from Leicester City and Piotr Zielinski from Udinese. The Reds had long been linked with the young left-back Ben Chilwell who is yet to play in the Premier League. They had offered £5 million basic fee plus £2 million add-ons which was way below Leicester’s asking price of minimum £10 million.
With the left-back in the final year of his contract, the Reds will fancy their chances of snapping him up at a lesser fee(to be decided by Tribunal). In the case of Zielinski though, there is not much to cheer. Having been in impasse with Udinese over Zielinski, the young midfielder is set to be prized away to a move to AC Milan.
Having met the release clause, they were rebuffed by his parent club who has encouraged him to join Napoli instead. The young midfielder is rumoured to have had stated his desire to line up under Jurgen Klopp but to no avail. AC Milan have pounced at the opportunity to snap up the midfielder and he is believed to be joining the San Siro based outfit.
